The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting its football community by providing $15,000 (XCD) in relief assistance to affiliates severely impacted by Hurricane Beryl’s passage in July 2024.

Recognizing the urgent need for help, the SVGFF executive acted swiftly to assist those affected, adopting a needs-based approach to distribute the funds. Vincy Heat Claims Fifth Victory, Edges Montserrat 2-1 https://svgff.org/vincy-heat-claims-fifth-victory-edges-montserrat-2-1/ https://svgff.org/vincy-heat-claims-fifth-victory-edges-montserrat-2-1/#respond Fri, 15 Nov 2024 13:26:23 +0000 https://svgff.org/?p=5288

Vincy Heat continued their impressive CONCACAF Nations League campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Montserrat, securing their fifth win of the tournament. The result leaves St. Vincent and the Grenadines in a strong second place on the points table with 10 points, just two behind leaders El Salvador.

The match began with both teams feeling each other out, but Vincy Heat gradually took control of the game. The breakthrough came in the 42nd minute when Steven Pierre found the back of the net. Pierre finished off a brilliant attacking play, slotting home after receiving a perfectly timed assist from Shak Adams. The goal gave Vincy Heat a deserved lead heading into halftime.

The second half saw Vincy Heat looking to extend their advantage while Montserrat pushed for an equalizer. The drama unfolded in the 86th minute when Oryan Velox was fouled inside the penalty area following a dazzling run. The referee pointed to the spot, and Cornelius Stewart stepped up to take the penalty. Stewart delivered with a composed finish, doubling Vincy Heat’s lead.

Montserrat, however, refused to go quietly. Just two minutes later, in the 88th minute, they capitalized on a defensive lapse to pull one back, making for a tense finish. Despite Montserrat’s late push, Vincy Heat held their ground, securing the crucial 2-1 win.

The victory solidifies Vincy Heat’s second-place standing with 10 points, keeping them in contention for promotion. With one game remaining against Bonaire on November 17, 2024, the team’s destiny hangs in the balance. A win over Bonaire, combined with an El Salvador loss in their final match, would propel Vincy Heat to the top of the table and secure promotion.

As Vincy Heat gears up for their decisive match, fans across St. Vincent and the Grenadines are rallying behind their team, dreaming of promotion and a place among the region’s elite.
